Dr. Jorge Hollman is a Principal Engineer and Senior Manager with the Engineering Services Business Unit at Powertech Labs. With over 20 years of experience in the energy industry, he is a recognized power systems expert and has experience in modelling, transients, equipment specification and performance in planning and operations. At Powertech, Jorge leads the Substations Studies and Equipment Applications department.

The Substations Studies and Equipment Applications team is specialized in grounding, arc flash and induction studies, stations equipment applications, insulation coordination, Point On Wave (POW) switching applications, transient recovery voltage (TRV), temporary over voltage (TOV) and transients analysis, high voltage transient measurements with optic devices, identification of SF6 leaks with optical gas imaging systems, electromagnetic field measurements, substations equipment failure analysis, and transient disturbance modelling, among others.

Dr. Prasanna Piya is an Engineer in the Substations Studies & Equipment Applications group at Powertech Labs. He has extensive experience in modeling, analysis, and control of power electronic inverter based renewable energy systems, development of probabilistic models for energy storage systems, and reliability and resilience evaluation of power systems. Prasanna is a registered Professional Engineer with EGBC in BC.

Dr. Kalpesh Joshi is an Electrical Engineer in the Substations Studies & Equipment Applications group at Powertech Labs. With a mixed blend of experience spanning over a decade in research, industry and academia, he has developed expertise in integration issues of distributed energy sources, evaluating and extending hosting capacity with/without battery energy storage, and modeling the synergy of small modular reactors with extreme volatility of photovoltaic generation systems.

Nripesh Ayer is an Electrical Engineer in the Substations Studies & Equipment Applications group at Powertech Labs. He is experienced in dynamic simulation, modeling, testing and validation of power system grids and its components such as exciters, turbine-governors, power system stabilizers and out-of-step protection relays. He is also skilled in software development cycle from testing, debugging, continuous integration, creating product demos & test cases, and drafting technical specifications. Nripesh is a registered Professional Engineer with EGBC in BC.

Dr. Hari Prasad Rimal is an Engineer in the Substations Studies & Equipment Applications group at Powertech Labs. He is experienced in modeling, analysis, and electromagnetic characterization of magnetic materials and equipment for transient and power frequency applications. He is also skilled in control of MicroGrid, power electronic converter based renewable energy systems, and stability analysis of power systems.

Dr. Vahid Asgharian is an Electrical Engineer within the Power Systems sector at Powertech Labs. He is a member of the Power System Studies team, which provides a wide range of research and consulting services including model development and testing, comprehensive stability assessments, post-mortem analysis, generation and load interconnection studies, and electromagnetic transient studies to clients across the world. Dr. Asgharian’s expertise lies in performing power system modeling, generation and transmission expansion planning studies, AC interference and arcing, and grounding studies, energy storage modeling and operation.

Barzan Tabei is an Electrical Engineer in the Substations Studies & Equipment Applications group at Powertech Labs. He has experience in power system modeling and simulation, electromagnetic transient studies, grounding modeling and simulation, eddy current studies, induction studies, numerical computations and applied mathematics. Barzan is a Ph.D candidate at the university of Manitoba and a registered Engineer-In-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
