NERC Compliance Testing and Study Services
Support grid compliance needs with testing, modeling, and consulting services in accordance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), and other regional reliability standards, such as NERC MOD-025, MOD-026, MOD-027, MOD-032, VAR-501, PRC-005, PRC-019, PRC-024, PRC-025, PRC-026, PRC-027, and PRC-029.
Modeling of Generation and Load
Develop user-defined positive-sequence and electromagnetic transient (EMT) models for synchronous machines, inverter-based resources (IBRs) which include solar, wind, battery energy storage system (BESS), FACT devices (synchronous condenser, HVDC, etc.), distributed-energy resource (DER), rectifier loads, and data centers.
Conduct model verification and validation based on manufacturer data sheet, control software logics and settings, historical operational data or staged field-testing measurements.
Perform simulation studies such as Model Quality Tests (MQT) per transmission planners’ requirements and prepare submissions including steady-state, dynamic and short circuit models in variety of simulation software platform such as DSATools, PSSE, PSLF, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, RSCAD, ASPEN, ETAP
Control Software Setting Tuning and Testing
Provide the comprehensive tuning study and testing for synchronous generating unit automatic voltage regulator (AVR), power system stabilizer (PSS), governor control system.
Protection & Control Study and Testing
Review protection settings and perform coordination studies for power plants and industrial sites according to standard practice as well as compliance requirements. Perform protective relay commissioning testing and preparing report.
Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Testing
Conduct electromagnetic transient simulation in real time to test and validate embedded control systems such as protective relays, excitation and governor control systems, inverters, plant controllers using RTDS. Benchmark RSCAD model against other EMT and positive-sequence models.
