The safety and protection of our water sources are of paramount importance to our society today. Electric utilities have the need for routine monitoring of aquatic systems and emergency response testing of water after spills or failures.
Powertech Labs’ Applied Chemistry environmental laboratory is equipped with the expertise and instrumentation to provide a full range of services needed to diagnose existing and potentially devastating issues in a variety of water-based samples.
Our battery of tests include inorganic parameters such as heavy metals, major ions and trace metals. Organic quality tests include volatile organics as well as semi-volatile organics such as PCBs, dioxin and furans, and PAHs.
The analytical methods used in the lab are based on internationally recognized procedures from Environment Canada, ASTM International, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Powertech is able to determine trace levels of contaminants in water (and soils) for compliance with provincial, state, and national regulations.
Analytical capabilities of Powertech’s environmental laboratory include:
- pH
- Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (EPHs)
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
- Oil and grease
- Total Solids
- Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
- Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
- Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- Chlorophenols
- Conductivity
- Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC)
- Turbidity
- Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
- Dissolved Oxygen Content
- Metals
- Others as required
APPLIED CHEMISTRY
