Mr. Darren Bromley joined Powertech Labs in 2003, has worked across a various departments and roles, and is currently Director of Generation Technology & Testing business unit. Mr. Bromley’s broad role is to support asset integrity management for electrical power generation. He is responsible for developing and executing strategies for building services and expertise to effectively deliver solutions to our power generation customers across five technical teams: Field Electrical Services, Generation Electrical Services, Materials Solutions, NDT Inspections, and Civil Technologies. Collaborating with Powertech’s internal experts, Mr. Bromley’s team offers support for damage mitigation, repair strategies, end-of-life prediction, failure investigation, and asset life extension for efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Mr. Eric See-Toh is a Generation Performance Engineer with the Generation Electrical and Field Services team at Powertech Labs. With 20 years of experience in the areas of design, maintenance, operations and commissioning, Eric is a diversified Hydro-Electric Engineer with industry recognized expertise in Woodward mechanical governors, vintage hydro generator protection and control, high voltage generator repair and dynamic machine motion. Today Eric provides service in the areas of synchronous machine testing, AVR/PSS/Governor dynamic model validation, as well as the many areas of condition assessment, maintenance program reviews, insulation testing and analysis for generators.

Ms. Kristen Porter is a Materials Engineer in Powertech’s Materials Solutions Lab, where she provides a broad range of consulting services focusing on component failure investigations and material testing projects. Ms. Porter began her career in the oil and gas industry, supporting pipeline and refinery maintenance programs. Her work involved performing risk assessments evaluating the threat of mechanisms such as corrosion, cracking, and mechanical damage to equipment integrity and preparing mitigation strategies. Since joining Powertech, Ms. Porter has applied that knowledge to her role as a project engineer in executing failure analysis, fracture mechanics, and hydrogen compatibility testing projects. Ms. Porter combines her strength in project management, technical writing and investigative testing techniques to support clients from a variety of industries. She is a Professional Engineer registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.

Mr. Michael Xia is an Electrical Engineer and Team Lead of Powertech’s Generation Electrical Service team. He specializes in synchronous generator/condenser and its control modelling, tuning, and studies, and leads the team to provide generator model development, conversion, validation, training, AVR, PSS and governor control tuning, protection review study and testing services, such as NERC MOD and PRC compliance study and testing. He also participates in renewable energy facilities (solar, wind, BESS, etc.) model validation study and testing, simulation software testing and other power system study projects in collaboration with Powertech’s Power Systems business unit. He is an active member in variety of industrial committees and technical groups, such as NERC MOD and PRC standard draft teams and WECC Model Validation Subcommittee. Mr. Xia is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

As Team Lead of Powertech’s Materials Solutions team, Mr. Patrick Ho specializes in corrosion and coatings related engineering projects with a focus on transmission and distribution structures and hydroelectric generation facilities. He leads his team to assist clients with materials failure, characterization studies, corrosion testing and evaluation, and coatings related investigations.

Mr. Reza Sohrabi is a Welding and Non-Destructive Testing Engineer within the Generation Technology & Testing sector at Powertech Labs. Reza holds over 20 years of diverse engineering experience and is skilled in providing technical data and consultation in areas of materials selection, welding ad inspection, testing, material selection, pressure vessels, quality assurance and control, welding processes and welding metallurgy of steels and non-iron metals.

Reza is a Professional Engineer registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.

Mr. Soltani is an Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in design, testing, and evaluation of insulation system of high voltage rotating machines. With more than 20 years of experience, he currently leads the Generation Services Team at Powertech Labs. Generation Services Team provides variety of diagnostic tests, and accelerated aging programs for evaluation of stator bars/coils, as well as condition assessment and site testing for large rotating machines. The team also offers NERC and WECC compliance testing, modelling, and model revalidation for large generators.

Dr. Sasi Sasitharan is a technical leader and project manager on Powertech’s Inspections team, providing a diverse array of testing and consultation services including non-destructive testing, civil and seismic engineering, and on-site inspections. His fields of interest include non-destructive testing, laboratory and field testing of soils, embankment dam surveillance and seepage investigation, seismic design, and carbon sequestration. He has authored numerous publications on these subjects. Dr. Sasitharan is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia and is a member of the Canadian Geotechnical Engineering Society.
