On Saturday June 16th, 2012, Powertech participated in the annual Colwood SunFest event to help promote the Solar Colwood initiative.
The Solar Colwood initiative was developed to encourage energy conservation and renewable energy infrastructure. Through community grants and innovative partnerships, the City’s goal is to retrofit up to one-sixth of their housing with renewable clean energy solutions.
During the Colwood SunFest family event, the Mayor of
Colwood, Carol Hamilton, announced that the Solar Colwood initiative will include alternative energy technologies and clean energy infrastructure projects.
The City also took the opportunity to announce the
construction of their EV charging stations. “The City of Colwood is proud to be one of the leaders in installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure,” said Carol Hamilton, Mayor of the City of Colwood. “The support from Powertech has been invaluable in helping us to determine the best locations and most appropriate technologies, and we are looking forward to ‘plugging in’!”
As part of the Solar Colwood program, Powertech will provide the project management, design and engineering services to deploy six Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations in three different locations. Powertech was awarded the contract for their relevant experience and technical capabilities to support alternative technologies and clean energy infrastructure.
In the summer of 2012, the Level 2 charging stations will be publically accessible to the community of Colwood. These charging stations have the capacity to charge a vehicle in four to six hours, making it an ideal stopping point for visitors and residents.
